A directory of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo parishes, kept for the benefit of the faithful who are travelling, moving, or looking for a church nearer home. We are building it now, and we would be glad to include yours.
Part one
Why this page exists
A parish website usually tries to keep people. This one does the opposite.
For the faithful
Ethiopians and Eritreans in this country move for work far more often than they would choose to, and a family that has just arrived in a new city often has no way of knowing whether there is a Tewahedo parish within reach. Word of mouth reaches those who already know somebody. This is for everybody else.
If you are visiting Tracy, you are welcome with us. If you have moved somewhere else, we would rather help you find the church nearest you than have you drive two hours to us.
For our sister churches
A listing here costs nothing, carries no conditions, and is removed the moment you ask. We are one parish among many and we claim no standing over any other — this is a directory, not a hierarchy.
What we will not publish
We list a parish’s name, city and a link to its own page. That is all.
In particular we do not publish other parishes’ service times, and we will not do so even if asked. Times change with the calendar and with circumstance, and a time that went stale on this page would send somebody to an empty church on a feast day. The parish’s own page is where those times belong, kept by the people who set them.
We will not publish a telephone number, an address or clergy details unless the parish specifically asks us to.

We are gathering permissions. No parish appears here until it has agreed to be listed, so this section is short for now. If you know a parish that would like to be included, please pass the invitation on.

Request a listing
Send us your church’s name, the city it is in, and a link to your website or Facebook page. Nothing else is needed and nothing else will be published. We will add it, and we will remove it at any time on request, without asking why.
