Sacraments & Spiritual Services
The Debre Haile Saint Rufael Ethiopian Orthodox Church provides many services to its surrounding community. Orthodox catechisms affirm that the church recognizes the following sacraments: baptism, chrismation, Communion, holy orders, anointing of the sick, and marriage.
Divine Liturgy
The Divine Liturgy (Kidase) is the central act of worship in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Join us every Sunday for this sacred service of prayer, scripture, and Holy Communion.
Baptism
Holy Baptism is the sacrament of initiation into the Christian faith. Infants are baptized 40 days after birth for boys and 80 days for girls, following ancient tradition.
Holy Communion
The Holy Eucharist is the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Prepared communicants may receive communion during every Divine Liturgy.
Wedding (Teklil)
The sacrament of Holy Matrimony (Teklil) is a sacred covenant before God. Our church provides traditional Ethiopian Orthodox wedding ceremonies.
Confession
The sacrament of Confession and repentance is available for all faithful seeking spiritual guidance and reconciliation with God.
Anointing of the Sick
Prayer and anointing for the healing of the sick, following the apostolic tradition of the Church.
Funeral Services
We provide funeral and memorial services according to the traditions of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
Community Support
Our church actively engages in community-centered charitable activities, volunteering time, effort, and donating to worthy causes.
