Benefits of Membership
Welcome to our parish community. Registering as an official member connects you and your family directly to the spiritual, sacramental, and cultural life of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
Spiritual & Sacramental Life
- Access to Sacred Sacraments: Full pastoral access to the holy sacraments, including Baptism (Tmket), Holy Communion (Qurban), Holy Matrimony (Teklil), and burial rites (Fit’hat).
- Personal Pastoral Guidance: Members are paired with a designated Spiritual Father (Yenefse Abat) for confidential spiritual direction, family counselling, and home visits in times of need.
- Active Liturgical Worship: Participate fully in the daily Divine Liturgy (Qeddase), the seasonal fasts (Tsom), and feast day celebrations — Timkat, Meskel and Genna — alongside a supportive congregation.
Family, Youth & Language
- Sunday School (Yekidusan Timhirt Bet): Structured Christian education, Bible study, and youth leadership programmes for children and young adults.
- Cultural & Language Heritage: Help your children learn Ge’ez and Amharic, traditional liturgical chanting (Yaredic Zema), and Orthodox values in a community that honours our heritage.
- Fellowship & Youth Groups: College campus outreach, high school mentorship, and peer fellowship groups that keep young people anchored in their faith.
Community Support & Outreach
- Extended Support Network: Spiritual, emotional and practical support through major life events, including illness, bereavement and hardship.
- Community Associations (Mahber): Join prayer groups and charitable outreach initiatives (Sebeka Gubae) focused on local humanitarian work and the growth of the church.
Governance & Member Privileges
- Voting Rights & Leadership: Members in good standing may vote at general parish meetings, elect board members, and take part in key operational decisions.
- Facility Usage: Priority access to church halls and facilities for private spiritual events, memorial luncheons (Tazkar) and family milestones.
